Last month of Meetings

Well, we have had one meeting since the last post. It should have been two but the one on January 18th was cancelled. This was due to having a lunch after church because of a new deacon in the church and everyone was tired therefore it was cancelled.

The meeting on February 8th was the Valentine meeting. Some of the folks from church (Paula, Wilhelmena, Dennis, and Jean) put together a dinner and games for the kids. We had pizza, salad, and Hawaiian Punch with cupcakes for dessert. We played some games set up by Paula. Our lesson was about Daniel 2 which talks about using your talents for God's Glory. The kids had a great time.

Our next meeting is this Sunday, February 22nd which will be back to our normal meeting schedule. Hope to see you there.

First Study of the New Year

Well, the first Bible Study was last night and it was a fun one. We did a short lesson about the first chapter of Daniel. After the lesson, I decided to do a board game. It is called Virginia Techopoly which is based on Monopoly. I think the kids enjoyed it. Our next meeting will be January 25th. Plus, we will be having a special time on February 11th where we will have the lesson and then have fun time doing games and such for Valentines. Hope to see you then.

God Bless you.

Long Time Ago

It has been a long time since I have posted about the youth group. Well, we have had 3 meetings since the last post. The same kids has been coming to meetings. We have been doing the same time with dinner at 5 pm, kids playing ping pong before we start the lesson around 6 pm, and playing ping pong after lesson until the other classes are done.

Well, this is a new year and I think I will start a new curriculum done by Xtreme Youth Alliance. Let's see how the kids like it.

Our next meeting is January 11th. Hope to see you there. Again, we have a small meal at 5 pm, bible study starts around 6 pm and finish up at 7 pm.

Your friend in Christ,

James

November 9th Meeting

This weeks' meeting was another good meeting. We had 7 kids (Katherine, Leah, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Spencer, Jensen). We had our normal meal before the meeting. It was great.

Our meeting consisted of 3 parts, all with objects corresponding with them. The objects were a cell phone, digital camera, and M&Ms. The cell phone talked about how do we reach God. The digital camera talked about how we were made as an image of God. The M&Ms talked about how God loves everyone.

Again, the kids played Ping-Pong before and after class.

Our next meeting is November 23rd.

God Bless you and see you at the next meeting.

Interesting Class

This week was an interesting week.

The dinner was potluck. I forgot about it therefore I forgot to bring something. I did bring something for me to eat. The other people there brought sandwiches, chicken and dumplins, mac and cheese and other stuff.

The kids there was Kristy, Katherine, Daniel, Leah, and Benjamin.

Again, after dinner, I let the kids have some play time.

After play time, we started the lesson. My topic started out to be about Peter walking on Water but since the kids I had was preteen, I decided to change it to Temporary vs. Eternal.

Well, the next youth group meeting will be on October 26th. I don't know if I will be there depending on how my Sunday activities goes. If not, there will be someone there taking over the duties.

God bless you and have a good two weeks.

Great Time

We had our first Youth Group meeting last night. There were 5 kids (Caleb, Katherine, Jensen, Kristy, and Spencer).

First, we had a great dinner of hot dogs and barbeque a little after 5 pm.

After dinner, the kids had some play time before the lesson. They played Ping Pong and a game of Virus (Game similar to Tag) which I participated in both. I was very worn out after the game of Virus (getting old). There was a tournament in Ping Pong where the winner would face me in the championship. Well, it came down to Kristy winning the round robin rounds to play. She kept it interesting but I pulled it out by winning 5-3.

After the play time, we got into our lesson. As I said in previous posts, the lesson was about the Armor of God. I had a little illustration of a little boy with just plain clothes and before talking about each piece of armor, I would put the cutout on the boy. The parts of the armor is:

The Belt of Truth
The Breastplate of Righteousness
The Shoes of Peace
The Shield of Faith
The Helmet of Salvation
The Sword of the Spirit

After the lesson, we had a little boy looking like a medieval soldier ready to battle Satan.

The kids, as I saw it, had a good time watching me put on the pieces of the armor. Hopefully they understood the lesson and they tried to put on the armor daily.

After the lesson, the kids had a few minutes before the end of the meeting so they played more ping pong. Also, I gave each student a couple take home puzzles for their enjoyment.

Around 7 pm, the meeting came to an end.
